Charter Cup Fishing Tournament Raised over 413k for Local Charities

 

HYANNIS, MA, ISSUED August 1st, 2022…… The 6th Annual Charter Cup Fishing Tournament raised $413,000 for eighteen non-profits. (updated 8/31/22)

The 6th Annual Charter Cup Fishing Tournament held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, raised over $413,000 for nineteen non-profits with 100% of all funds raised going directly to the participating charities: Angel Flight NE supported by Andy Reardon & R A Villani, Inc., Barnstable Police K9 Foundation supported by Tavano Mechanical Systems and Cape Dairy Products, Inc., Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod and the Islands supported by Barnstable Police Department, Cape Abilities supported by Jaxtimer Landscaping LLC, Local First Responders Mental Health Awareness & Support Initiative supported by Mid-Cape Home Centers, Duffy Health Center supported by Wendy’s & Captain Jeff Perry, Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod supported by Shepley Wood Products, Housing Assistance Corp. (HAC) supported by Coastal Medical Transportation Services LLC  & The Maffei Companies, Joslin Diabetes Center supported by E.J. Jaxtimer Builder, Inc., May Institute supported by Carl F Riedell & Son, Inc. & Stray Cat Sportfishing, WellStrong supported by Bay Colony Concrete Forms, Inc., Gibson Waterproofing & Ty One On Sportfishing, Yarmouth Police Foundation supported by Baxter’s Fish ‘N Chips & Emma Jack Charters, YMCA of Cape Cod supported by Joyce Landscaping, Inc. & AeroCape Aviation.

The weather conditions were perfect and many of the teams had some great catches.  The day ended at the weigh-in station right outside Baxter’s Fish ‘N Chips, Hyannis, with an award ceremony and a live auction. Funds raised by the live auction will benefit Cape Kids Meals, Yarmouth Food Pantry, The Family Pantry of Cape Cod, A Baby Center, Sharing Kindness, and Tommy’s Place. The heaviest bluefish award went to Joslin Diabetes Center and the heaviest striped bass award went to Duffy Health Center. In addition, the leadership award (a hand-carved/custom painted tuna by Ken Whiting) was given to Carl Riedell of Carl F Riedell & Son, Inc. for his fighting spirit and commitment to supporting the Charter Cup Fishing Tournament and the Cape Cod community throughout the years.

“This year we reached a milestone by raising over $1 million dollars for our local charities since the tournament’s inception in 2017. By working together as a community, we can accomplish many good things,” E.J. said after thanking all sponsors, donors, participants and volunteers that made this day possible.
