Barnstable Youth Hockey Fishing Tournament Raises a Record 46k

 

HYANNIS, MA, ISSUED July 16, 2019…… On Thursday, June 27, the 10th Annual Barnstable Youth Hockey Fishing Tournament set a record, raising over $46,000 for the Barnstable Youth Hockey Association.

The BYHA Fishing Tournament provides the additional resources needed to help grow and make youth hockey more affordable for all children in the Cape Cod community. The donations collected from this tournament will benefit many children of all ages who would otherwise not be able to participate due to income restrictions. The Barnstable Youth Hockey Association also offers scholarship programs so children can continue to pursue their dreams of getting an education while playing hockey.

The celebration of the 10^th anniversary brought in a record of 32 fishing boats and over 160 anglers. The add-on of the new women’s division increased the number of women participants and took the competition to the next level. The day ended with dinner provided by Baxter’s Fish ‘n’ Chips and an award ceremony. Men, women and junior anglers who caught the heaviest striped bass and bluefish were presented trophies and prizes.

A very special thank you to Sam and Ben Baxter for supporting the fishing tournament and donating their facilities for the past 10 years. The tournament would not be a success without the continuous support from the Cape Cod community.
