The Sea Goddess

Featured Project: The Sea Goddess

This Bulfinch award-winning masterfully restored 1880’s home in Osterville, encompasses modern and sophisticated components all while preserving the historical integrity and beauty. Known as the “Sea Goddess”, this waterfront home has views that overlook a private beach on Nantucket Sound.

The major renovation project began with a new foundation. To complete this first step, E.J. Jaxtimer Builder, Inc. called in Hayden Building Movers, Inc.’s crew that used 75 foot steel beams to raise the structure up 4 feet in the air to install a brand new full depth foundation. The crew then levelled out the ground under the structure in preparation for the foundation construction. Once the foundation was complete, the main house was dropped back onto the new foundation.

From there, the home received a full makeover inside and out. The exterior was updated with new windows and doors by Marvin Windows & Doors, custom decorative lantern lighting by Nauset Lantern Shop, along with customized shutters and attractive made-to-order flower boxes by Unique Design Solutions. The home also features decking components by Intex Millwork, a lightning protection system, traditional copper gutters and downspouts, white cedar shingling and red cedar roofing. The two outbuildings (new garage and pool cabana) also feature the same exterior finishes to match the main house.

The main dwelling highlights a new modern kitchen equipped with custom-built cabinetry and appliances from KAM Appliances, a breakfast room, dining room, family room, and a spacious library all with ocean views. The restored antique pine wood flooring and natural Nantucket beadboard throughout the home enhances the historical elegance and spotlights the modern architectural design by Patrick Ahearn Architects.

The landscape and beachfront needed total reconstruction.  Beacon Marine Construction assisted with the beachfront improvement by rebuilding the stone revetment wall, resculping the embankment and installing a new multi-level beach access staircase.  Landscape was assigned and implemented by Jaxtimer Landscaping, LLC, while the pool was installed by Custom Quality Pools. Detailed masonry consisting of an outdoor living area, outdoor kitchen/grill, cobblestone granite driveway and aprons were constructed with the assistance of Barger Masonry.

Since completing the project in 2018, E.J. Jaxtimer Builder, Inc. continues to provide the homeowners with top-notch Property Management Services including routine improvements, along with maintaining and caring for the landscape grounds all year round.
