2025 BRICC Awards

On Thursday, October 9, 2025, Jaxtimer Landscaping, LLC was honored with a prestigious Gold BRICC (Building & Remodeling Industry of Cape Cod) Award at the highly anticipated 2025 BRICC Awards Ceremony. This esteemed recognition celebrates excellence in the building and remodeling industry across Cape Cod, highlighting outstanding craftsmanship and innovative design.

The Gold Award, specifically for Best Landscape/Garden Project - Over $500,000, was bestowed upon Jaxtimer Landscaping, LLC for their exceptional project, “The Social Garden.” This remarkable project captivated the judges with its unparalleled creativity, meticulous attention to detail, and seamless integration of luxurious amenities within a breathtaking outdoor environment. The Social Garden exemplifies the pinnacle of outdoor living, offering a harmonious blend of aesthetics and functionality that truly redefines the client's experience of their exterior spaces.

The Social Garden is more than an outdoor living space; it is a complete reimagining of how a home can extend into the landscape, creating a sanctuary where design, craftsmanship, and lifestyle meet. Designed for a young family who loves to entertain, this Mashpee retreat transitions effortlessly from indoor comfort to outdoor sophistication. Every detail, from the selection of timeless materials to the placement of each light and plant, was conceived to create a destination where family life and social gatherings exist in perfect harmony.

This project is a testament to collaborative craftsmanship, uniting Cape Cod’s most skilled professionals under the precise project management of Jaxtimer Landscaping, LLC’s Landscape Construction Division and E.J. Jaxtimer Builder, Inc. Together, they transformed a retired backyard into a cohesive, award-worthy environment that fulfills the homeowners’ vision and exceeds expectations. The result is a property that feels both expansive and intimate, with every square foot thoughtfully designed for beauty, comfort, and function.

The homeowners envisioned a space that would be as effortless for daily family life as it is for hosting friends and extended gatherings. This vision required more than attractive finishes. It demanded a design that naturally draws people from one area to the next while still creating defined zones for different activities. Children can play on the lawn while adults relax poolside. Guests can wander from the outdoor kitchen to a fire feature without ever feeling disconnected from the action.

One of these destinations is a circular patio just off the primary bedroom. Designed as a private retreat within the larger landscape, it features a Restoration Hardware fire table, integrated lighting, and discreetly placed speakers for a fully immersive experience. Separated from the main lawn by a stepping-stone pathway with lush green joints, this space offers intimacy while remaining visually tied to the rest of the property. Whether for quiet mornings, evening conversations, or late-night stargazing, it extends the versatility and enjoyment of the landscape well beyond the central entertaining areas.

The property features a series of thoughtfully connected outdoor platforms and walkways that promote a true indoor-outdoor lifestyle. Off the main house, a 980-square-foot Ipe hardwood deck provides generous space for dining, lounging, and family activities. Stepping down from this deck leads directly to the main lawn, creating a natural flow for gatherings that shift between open grass and hardscape.

From the front of the house, a custom cedar fence and gate lead to an Ipe boardwalk that guides guests into the backyard with a sense of arrival. Flanked by lush planting beds and illuminated by discreet path lighting, the boardwalk opens to the outdoor kitchen and bar area, revealing the heart of the entertaining space. Every transition is deliberate, with materials and elevations designed to make movement intuitive and visually harmonious. Whether arriving through the cedar gate, stepping down from the main deck, or crossing from lawn to kitchen, the experience is one of continuous connection between indoors and out.

Finished in Ipe cladding and topped with a honed two-inch Jet Mist granite counter, the outdoor kitchen embodies the project’s commitment to high-quality materials and precision craftsmanship. The rich wood grain of the Ipe is both visually warm and exceptionally resilient, standing up to sun, rain, and salt air without losing its luster. Fully equipped for serious culinary endeavors, it features a 42-inch Lynx grill, stainless steel storage drawers, beverage refrigerators, and integrated task lighting. Every appliance is positioned for convenience, while generous counter space accommodates everything from casual snacks to multi-course meals.

This is more than a cooking station, it is a gathering hub. Guests can sit at the bar while chatting with the cook, children can grab a drink without interrupting meal prep, and hosts can keep an eye on the pool while tending the grill. Overhead, a custom 20-foot cedar pergola provides shade by day and architectural definition by night, framing the kitchen within the larger landscape. The kitchen sits on Ipe decking framed by an 18-inch-wide Blue Mist granite border, matching the material palette of the deck and pool coping. This detailing reinforces the continuity that runs throughout the property.

At the center of the outdoor living space is an 18-by-38-foot swimming pool lined with Blue Mist granite coping. Each stone has double pencil-round eased edges for a refined finish and a subtle one-inch overhang. Every granite coping stone was custom-cut to within a 1/16-inch tolerance for a perfect fit, a level of precision that ensures the pool’s edges remain as crisp years from now as they are today.

A raised spa, finished in New England fieldstone veneer and capped with matching granite, anchors one end of the pool. A cascading water feature flows into the pool below, creating a soothing sound that blends with rustling grasses and the laughter of guests. The spa provides a warm retreat during cooler evenings or early spring days, extending use of the pool area well beyond summer. Paths of Blue Mist granite steppers in lawn joints lead from the pool deck to two distinct fire areas. One side features a rectangular Restoration Hardware Salento fire table for larger gatherings, while the other has a round table for more intimate seating. Both are fueled by natural gas and framed by matching stone detailing.

The planting plan softens the strong lines of the hardscape with carefully selected species. Endless Summer and Little Lime hydrangeas provide seasonal blooms. Blue Muffin viburnum adds texture, while ornamental grasses bring movement. Crape myrtles and Japanese stewartia trees lend vertical structure, their canopies offering dappled shade. All selections were chosen for beauty and their ability to thrive in Cape Cod’s climate.

Landscape lighting extends the property’s appeal into the evening. FX Luminaire path lights guide movement, while subtle uplighting highlights trees, pergola posts, and architectural details. Step and wall lights are built into stonework for safety and ambiance without visual clutter. A professionally installed audio system delivers even sound across the property, with speakers discreetly placed in planting beds and hardscape elements.

One defining quality of The Social Garden is the consistent material palette. Blue Mist granite, Ipe hardwood, and New England fieldstone appear in multiple applications including deck borders, pool coping, kitchen cladding, and fire pit surrounds, creating a cohesive look. Craftsmanship is evident in every detail, from concealed fasteners on the Ipe to carefully matched fieldstone veneer.

The property’s design ensures year-round appeal. In spring, flowering trees and shrubs provide bursts of color. In autumn, fire features draw guests together. Even in winter, the granite, wood, and stone remain visually striking from inside the home.

With the property’s prime location overlooking the manicured greens of a neighboring golf course, privacy was a central priority. The design incorporated strategic plantings, structures, and elevation changes to create a secluded sanctuary that shields the home from both the golf course and neighboring residences. This approach preserved open views where desired while ensuring a consistent sense of tranquility and exclusivity.

The owners also requested a dedicated outdoor living space connected directly to the master suite. This retreat was designed as a functional yet refined extension of the bedroom, ideal for morning coffee, quiet reading, or evening relaxation. The design team integrated this feature into the overall layout, ensuring it felt connected to the larger landscape while still offering an intimate sense of privacy.

Through careful planning, precise craftsmanship, and close collaboration with the homeowners, the team delivered an environment that fully realized the vision; a versatile, private, and beautifully detailed outdoor living space that enhances both daily life and special occasions.

The Social Garden emerges most vividly at night, when the landscape transforms into a luminous gathering place. Expertly designed and precisely installed, the lighting system turns every corner of the garden into an experience, balancing dramatic visual impact with functional elegance.

Architectural uplighting celebrates the surrounding structures, while path lights invite movement and discovery. Beyond the central entertaining spaces, perimeter plantings glow softly, their textures and forms revealed in layers of light and shadow. This interplay adds depth, dimension, and a sense of seclusion, making the garden feel both expansive and intimate.

Embedded path and patio lights ensure safe passage without interrupting the atmosphere, guiding guests toward the pool, where shimmering underwater illumination meets the graceful arcs of illuminated laminar jets. These crystal-clear streams rise and fall in perfect symmetry, their LED lighting casting vibrant colors across the water, creating a mesmerizing focal point for evening gatherings.

The result is an environment that not only extends outdoor living well into the evening but also elevates every social gathering into a memorable event. In The Social Garden, lighting is more than a feature, it is the connective thread that ties together architecture, plantings, water, and people, creating a space that is as stunning as it is inviting.

As the sun sets, The Social Garden comes alive. Warm pools of light from carefully placed path lights, uplights, and wall lights guide guests through the landscape, casting soft highlights on textured stonework, lush plantings, and the fully stocked outdoor kitchen. Powered by a single 300-watt transformer, the low-voltage LED system delivers efficient, sustainable illumination that enhances both safety and beauty well into the night.

Music flows throughout the gardens and gathering spaces through a multi-zone outdoor audio system engineered for immersive, balanced sound. Eight TruAudio AcoustiScape speakers and two TruAudio ST-12PRO underground subwoofers are concealed within the landscape, blending crisp highs with deep, resonant bass while keeping all equipment out of view. The system is powered by three 350-watt amplifiers and fully integrated with Sonos for seamless control. The homeowner can shift instantly from a lively dinner party soundtrack to a soft acoustic playlist under the stars or by the fire.

Together, the lighting and audio create an outdoor living environment that engages the senses. The space is not simply a backyard. It is a complete experience where technology meets design, comfort, and sustainability. Every element works in harmony to elevate evenings into unforgettable moments that invite guests to linger long after the night has begun.
