The 10th Annual Charter Cup Fishing Tournament Raised $509k for Charity

HYANNIS, MA, ISSUED August 4, 2026………… The 10th Annual Charter Cup Fishing Tournament raised over $509,000 for 25 non-profits.

The tournament brought together 25 boats, 140 anglers, and hundreds of supporters for a day of fishing, friendly competition, and philanthropy. Following the day’s fishing, participants gathered at Baxter’s Fish ‘N Chips for the afternoon featuring awards presentations, a live auction, and celebrations of the many sponsors, volunteers, and community partners who made the event possible.

Since its founding in 2017, the Charter Cup Fishing Tournament has become one of Cape Cod’s premier charitable events, raising more than $3.2 million for nonprofit organizations in the last ten years. Remarkably, 100% of tournament proceeds are donated directly to participating charities, thanks to the generosity of sponsors, donors, anglers, and community supporters.

The 2026 Charter Cup beneficiaries included Angel Flight NE, Barnstable Police K-9 Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands, Cape Abilities, Cape Cod Challenger Club, Cape Wellness Collaborative, Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod, Housing Assistance Corporation, Joslin Diabetes Center, May Institute, Nantucket Boys & Girls Club, Special Olympics Massachusetts, Tommy’s Place Foundation, Yarmouth Police Foundation, and the YMCA Cape Cod.

Although fishing conditions proved challenging throughout much of the day, anglers still enjoyed time on the water in support of local charities. The Battle of the Badges competition once again highlighted the spirit of friendly rivalry between local police and fire departments. The Battle of the Badges 1^st place striped bass award went to Barnstable Police Department and the Barnstable Police K9 Foundation and the 2^nd place striped bass award went to the Dennis Fire Department and May Institute.

Jaxtimer, founder of the Charter Cup Fishing Tournament. “This milestone 10th tournament is a testament to what can be accomplished when local businesses come together to support organizations that make Cape Cod and the Islands a better place to live.”
