Featured Project: Timeless Coastal Retreat ~ Falmouth
Located in the beautiful coastal community of Falmouth, MA, this new construction residence is a stunning example of timeless New England architecture, meticulous craftsmanship, and thoughtful design. Designed by Patrick Ahearn Architect and built by E.J. Jaxtimer Builder, Inc., the home seamlessly blends traditional coastal charm with modern amenities, creating an inviting retreat for family living and entertaining.
One of the most distinctive elements of this project is the thoughtful incorporation of reclaimed heavy timber from the original residence. Antique beams were carefully salvaged and repurposed throughout the new home, adding character and a meaningful connection to the property’s history. These exposed beams complement the home’s extensive custom millwork, beadboard detailing, and beautifully crafted architectural finishes.
The heart of the home features an open-concept design connecting the kitchen, dining room, morning room, and family room. Vaulted ceilings accented with reclaimed timber beams create a sense of openness, while expansive Pella windows welcome an abundance of natural light. Wide-plank, rift and quarter sawn European white oak flooring flows throughout the main living spaces, providing a beautiful foundation for the home’s coastal-inspired interiors. In the pantry, mudroom, laundry room, and entryways, Silver Travertine tile with a brushed and chiseled finish adds natural texture and timeless appeal, offering a perfect balance of beauty and durability.
Designed with both style and functionality in mind, the kitchen features custom cabinetry with rich walnut finishes, polished nickel hardware, and traditional scullery latches and pulls. Premium appliances, including Sub-Zero refrigeration, a Lacanche range, and Wolf appliances, were supplied by KAM Appliances. Intricate millwork, soaring vaulted ceilings, and exposed reclaimed timber beams add warmth and architectural character, creating an inviting space for everyday living and gathering with family and friends.
The adjoining family room offers an equally inviting setting, featuring a gas fireplace by Anderson Fireplace with a polished White Rhino marble surround. Custom built-in bookcases and a beautifully appointed wet bar provides both style and convenience for entertaining. The adjoining ensuite bath features a freestanding soaking tub, honed White Carrara marble, and polished chrome fixtures, combining timeless elegance with modern comfort to create a relaxing, spa-like setting.
A thoughtfully designed guest wing, complete with a living room, bedroom, and bathroom, was custom tailored for guests with young children. Built-in cabinetry, window seats, and charming details create welcoming spaces that are both functional and inviting.
The home’s exterior is equally impressive, featuring a three-car garage with custom arched doors by Designer Garage Doors. Traditional architectural shutters and flower boxes by Unique Design Solutions, featuring Atlantic Premium Architectural true louvered shutters and black powder-coated stainless steel hardware, further enhance the home’s classic New England character.
An expansive covered porch with bluestone pavers creates a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living, offering a beautiful setting for relaxation and entertaining. The surrounding landscape, designed by Acer Landscape Design and brought to life by Jaxtimer Landscaping, LLC, complements the home’s architecture while enhancing the property’s natural coastal setting.
