Charter Cup Fishing Tournament Raised 516k for Charity

 

HYANNIS, MA, ISSUED August 9, 2023…… The 7th Annual Charter Cup Fishing Tournament raised $516,000 for twenty-two non-profits.

The 7^th Annual Charter Cup Fishing Tournament held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, raised over $516,000 for twenty-two non-profits with 100% of all funds raised going directly to the participating charities: Angel Flight NE sponsored by Andy Reardon & R A Villani, Inc.; Barnstable Police K9 Foundation sponsored by Tavano Mechanical Systems & Cape Dairy, LLC; Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands sponsored by Barnstable Police Department & Botello Lumber; Cape Abilities sponsored by Jaxtimer Landscaping, LLC & Pella Windows & Doors; Duffy Health Center sponsored by Wendy’s & Captain Jeff Perry – First Light Fishing Charters; Gosnold, Inc. sponsored by Falmouth Lumber, Inc., Schumacher Companies, Inc., KVC Builders, Bigelow Fleming & Beacon Marine Construction, LLC; Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod sponsored by Shepley Wood Products & Brosco; Housing Assistance Corporation sponsored by Coastal Medical Transportation Services LLC & The Maffei Companies; Joslin Diabetes Center sponsored by E.J. The weather conditions were perfect and it was a great day for fishing and fundraising. The day ended at Baxter’s Fish ‘N Chips, Hyannis, with an award ceremony and a live auction that raised $29,750. Funds raised by the live auction will benefit Cape Kids Meals, Yarmouth Food Pantry, The Family Pantry of Cape Cod, A Baby Center, Sharing Kindness, Homeless Not Hopeless, Independence House, and Cape Cod Elder Services. The heaviest bluefish award went to Joslin Diabetes Center and the heaviest striped bass award went to the Yarmouth Police Foundation. In addition, the Battle of the Badges heaviest striped bass award went to the Yarmouth Police Foundation and the heaviest bluefish award went to Duffy Health Center. The sportsmanship award was given to Ken Whiting for his longtime support of the Charter Cup Fishing Tournament and the Cape Cod community throughout the years.

“In just seven years, we have raised over 1.5 million dollars for non-profits that help make our community healthier and stronger. This year, we added the Battle of the Badges to thank all the first responders who keep us safe and come to our aid every day. We are so, so very lucky!” E.J. said after thanking all sponsors, donors, participants, and volunteers that made this day possible.
